What do I need for an MOT and service?

When booking for your MOT or car service, it's good to be prepared - however, you will be pleased to know that due to technological advancements, you don’t need to bring heaps of paperwork with you to your appointment.

What do I need for an MOT?

Surprisingly, you don’t actually need to bring anything with you to your MOT. Simply turn up, and we’ll be able to find your car in our system.
When your MOT is completed, you’ll be issued a certificate to determine whether your vehicle has passed or failed the test. If additional work is required on your vehicle, you may receive a list of minor problems that will need monitoring. It is advised that you do not ignore these recommendations as they may become much more significant issues in the future.

What do I need for a service?

For a car service, it’s helpful to bring your locking wheel nut. But, just like your MOT, you don’t need to bring any documents with you.

Other MOT and car service tips

  • Locking wheel nut key - leave the locking wheel nut on the car passenger's seat, as this gives the vehicle technicians easy access if they need to remove the wheels.
  • Remove items in your car - items such as car seats secured by a seatbelt should be removed before an MOT test, as this will allow the tester to test the seatbelts on the back seats more easily.
