MOT Testing

At PTA Garage Services we have a number of MOT test centres located throughout South East England.

We also offer Class 7 MOT testing for goods vehicles over 3,000kg up to 3,500kg (design gross weight) at our Folkestone branch.

All of our MOT test centres are DVSA (formally VOSA) approved and our MOT technicians are trained to the highest DVSA standards.

We offer MOT testing for cars (and other class 4 vehicles) and motorbikes (Shirley Branch only).

What is an MOT test?

An MOT (Ministry of Transport) test is an annual safety inspection of your vehicle which must be carried out once it is 3 years old. It is a legal requirement and without it you will be unable to legally use or tax your car and you may not be insured.

It is worth remembering that you can book your MOT test online for your vehicle up to 28 days in advance of its expiration date.

What happens if I fail my MOT?

Should your vehicle fail its MOT, we offer a free re-test within 10 working days and are happy to carry out any repairs at competitive prices.

Before you book your MOT test, it’s helpful to familiarise yourself with the recent changes. As of the 20th May 2018, new legislation is in place meaning that there are new defect categories and changes to the way emissions are tested. Find out about the changes to the MOT test.
